This California Collection Notice applies to the processing of Personal Information by CoreLogic, Inc. d/b/a Cotality and our affiliates (collectively, “Cotality,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) in connection with the products and services that we offer (“Products”) and our website, online services, portals, or dashboards (collectively “Site” and together with Products collectively “Services”). This California Collection Notice is required under the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA) and is applicable only to California residents. If you are not a California resident, this notice does not apply to you, and you should not rely on it. “Personal Information” as referenced herein has the same meaning as in the CCPA.
A few important points:
- Cotality’s business. Cotality is a business to business (“B2B”) property data and analytics company that provides data-driven insights, technology, and software services to commercial and governmental entities. Our Products are designed for commercial purposes for our business customers. We do not offer Products for use by individuals for their personal, family, or household purposes.
- Exempted data. Some information we use in connection with our Services is not treated as “Personal Information” under state privacy laws, such as the CCPA (for example, information that is publicly available from widely distributed media or government records), or is regulated by other privacy laws, such as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) or the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). This California Collection Notice does not apply to that information.
- Service provider or processor. This California Collection Notice does not apply to information that we handle on behalf of our business customers as their “service provider” or “processor” while providing our services to them. In those situations, we process Personal Information according to our contracts with those customers. If you have questions regarding Personal Information we handle on behalf of a business customer, please contact that business directly.

1. California Collection Notice of Personal Information
We currently collect and have collected the following categories of Personal Information:
- Identifiers (name, postal address, online identifier, Internet Protocol address, email address);
- Unique personal identifiers (device identifier; cookies, beacons, pixel tags, mobile ad identifiers, or other similar technology; customer number, unique pseudonym or user alias; telephone numbers, or other forms of persistent or probabilistic identifiers that can be used to identify a particular consumer or device);
- Telephone number and education;
- Characteristics of protected classifications under California or federal law (age (40 and older), marital status);
- Commercial information (records of personal property, products or services purchased, obtained or considered; other purchasing or consuming histories or tendencies; or other commercial information);
- Internet or other electronic network activity information (browsing history; search history; and information regarding consumer’s interaction with website, application or advertisement);
- Non-precise geolocation data; and
- Inferences drawn from above information to create a profile about a consumer reflecting the consumer’s preferences and behavior.
We collect Personal Information directly from California residents (business customers) and from third parties, such as advertising networks, internet service providers, third-party data licensors, data analytics providers, operating systems and platforms, and social networks. We do not collect all categories of Personal Information from each source.
We may use the Personal Information that we collect about you for the following business or commercial purposes:
- Provide, operate, and improve our Services, including through internal research, testing, and analysis;
- Protect the security and integrity of our Services to the extent the use of your Personal Information is reasonably necessary and proportionate for these purposes;
- Analyze user trends, patterns, and data to develop new products, features, and services, including building, training, testing, and validating predictive models, and analytical tools;
- Provide customer service and technical support, including troubleshooting, debugging, and undertaking activities to verify or maintain the quality or safety of a service or device;
- Advertise and market our Services, including non-personalized advertising, and perform advertising or marketing services on behalf of affiliates, partners, advertising networks, social media platforms, and other joint marketing partners;
- Investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, safety threats, or violations of our Terms of Use;
- Defend our legal rights, comply with applicable laws, legal obligations, audit requirements, and respond to legal requests; and
- Fulfill any other purpose for which you provide it or any purpose that is reasonably necessary to or compatible with the original purpose of collection as disclosed to you.
2. Sale, sharing, and disclosure of Personal Information
The following table identifies the categories of Personal Information that we sell or share with third parties and, for each category, the categories of third parties to whom we may sell or share Personal Information:
We sell or share Personal Information to third parties to advance our commercial and economic interests.
We disclose all of the categories of Personal Information identified in the “California Collection Notice of Personal Information” section above to service providers or contractors for a business purpose. We disclose Personal Information for the following business or commercial purposes:
- Protect the security and integrity of our Services to the extent the use of your Personal Information is reasonably necessary and proportionate for these purposes;
- Provide customer service and technical support, including troubleshooting, debugging, and undertaking activities to verify or maintain the quality or safety of a service or device;
- Undertaking activities to verify or maintain the quality or safety of a service or device; and
- Advertise and market our Services, including non-personalized advertising;
We do not knowingly collect, sell, or share the Personal Information of consumers under 16 years of age. We do not process sensitive Personal Information to profile or infer characteristics about you. Because we do not process sensitive Personal Information, including to profile or infer characteristics about you, we do not offer a separate right to limit the use or disclosure of Personal Information.
3. Retention of Personal Information
We retain your Personal Information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collect it, such as to provide you with the service you have requested, and for the purpose of satisfying any legal, accounting, contractual, or reporting requirements that apply to us.
4. Your rights
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights with respect to your Personal Information:
- The right to know what Personal Information we have collected about you, including the categories of Personal Information, the categories of sources from which we collected Personal Information, the business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling or sharing Personal Information (if applicable), the categories of third parties to whom we disclose Personal Information (if applicable), and the specific pieces of Personal Information we collected about you;
- The right to delete Personal Information that we collected from you, subject to certain exceptions;
- The right to correct inaccurate Personal Information that we maintain about you;
- If we sell or share Personal Information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing; and
- If we use or disclose sensitive Personal Information for purposes other than those allowed by the CCPA and its regulations, the right to limit our use or disclosure.
How to submit a request to know, delete, and/or correct
If you are submitting a request on behalf of a California resident, please submit the request through the designated method discussed above. After submitting the request, we will require additional information to verify your authority to act on behalf of the California resident.
Our process for verifying a request to know, delete, and/or correct
We will comply with your request upon verification of your identity and, to the extent applicable, the identity of the California resident on whose behalf you are making such request.
We will verify your identity either to a “reasonable degree of certainty” or a “reasonably high degree of certainty” depending on the sensitivity of the Personal Information and the risk of harm to you by unauthorized disclosure, deletion, or correction as applicable. To do so, we will ask you to verify data points based on information we have in our records concerning you.
Right to opt out of sale or sharing of Personal Information
5. Shine the light law
If you are a California resident and have an established business relationship with us, you may request that we do not disclose your Personal Information to third parties for the third parties’ own direct marketing purposes (as those terms are defined in California Civil Code § 1798.83).
