Cotality Product Privacy Policy

This Product Privacy Policy is designed to assist you in understanding how CoreLogic, Inc. d/b/a Cotality and our affiliates (collectively, “Cotality,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collect, use, disclose, and process personal data in connection with the products and services that we offer (collectively, the “Products”). For information about our processing of personal data while visiting or browsing our website, please visit our Website Privacy Policy.

A few important points:

  • Cotality’s business. Cotality is a business to business (“B2B”) property data and analytics company that provides data-driven insights, technology, and software services to commercial and governmental entities. Our Products are designed for commercial purposes for our business customers and their representatives. We do not offer Products for use by individuals for their personal, family, or household purposes.
  • Exempted data. Some information we use in connection with our Products is not treated as “personal data” under state privacy laws (for example, information that is publicly available), or is regulated by other privacy laws (for example, information that is publicly available from widely distributed media or government records), or is regulated by other privacy laws such as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) or the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). This Product Privacy Policy does not apply to that information.
  • Service provider or processor. This Product Privacy Policy does not apply to information that we handle on behalf of our business customers as their “service provider” or “processor” while providing our services to them. In those situations, we process personal data according to our contracts with those customers. If you have questions regarding personal data we handle on behalf of a business customer, please contact that business directly.

1. Categories of personal data we collect

Personal data is information that is linked or reasonably linkable to an individual (collectively “personal data”). We may collect and process the following types of personal data in connection with our Products:

  • Identifiers, such as names, telephone numbers, and addresses.
  • Commercial information, such as information relating to buying, selling, owning, or renting property, including financial information and records reflecting consumer interests, purchasing tendencies, behavioral tendencies, and lifestyle preferences.
  • Demographic information, such as education, language preference, age, and marital status.
  • Geolocation data, such as city, state, country of residence, and postal code.

Sources of data

We collect personal data from the following sources:

  • Third-party data licensors. We obtain personal data from third-party data licensors and data providers.

We may also combine datasets from multiple sources to support the analytics purposes described below.

2. How we use personal data

We use the personal data described above for:

  • Product delivery.  Providing, operating, troubleshooting, and improving our Products, including conducting internal research, testing, and analysis to refine existing Products and develop new features and capabilities.
  • Model development, training, and validation. Building, training, testing, and validating predictive models and analytical tools.
  • Research and development. Analyzing data to develop new products, features, and services.
  • Customer support and product support. Supporting customer use of the Products, including troubleshooting and technical support, and performing related administrative tasks.
  • Compliance and legal purposes. Complying with applicable laws, regulations, and contractual obligations, and responding to legal processes, government requests, and audit requirements.

We may also use personal data for other purposes that are reasonably necessary to, or compatible with, the purposes described above, as permitted by applicable law and consistent with our contractual commitments to our customers.

We may create aggregated, de-identified, and/or anonymized data from personal data we collect. We make personal data into de-identified or anonymized data by removing information that makes the data personally identifiable to you. We may use this aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized data and disclose it to third parties for our lawful business purposes, including to analyze and improve our Products and promote our business.

3. How we disclose personal data

We may disclose the personal data that we collect and process in connection with our Products in the following circumstances:

  • With customers or their authorized users that use or interact with our Products.
  • With affiliates, including our corporate parent, subsidiaries, and other affiliates.
  • With third-party vendors to perform services on our behalf (e.g., email, hosting, maintenance, backup, analysis, etc.), and with vendors to prepare, deploy, and analyze advertising content.
  • With data partners and contributors that contribute data or collaborate with us on Products, for purposes such as data quality initiatives, model improvement, or reciprocal data arrangements.
  • With professional advisors, such as lawyers, auditors, bankers, and insurers in the course of the professional services that they render to us.
  • For legal, compliance, and security purposes, including where we are required to do so by law, regulation, subpoena, or other legal process, and in connection with any legal proceedings or prospective legal proceedings. We also disclose data with any person who we reasonably believe may apply to a court or other competent authority for disclosure of that personal data where, in our reasonable opinion, such court or authority would be reasonably likely to order disclosure of that personal data.
  • In connection with business transactions, such as part of any business or asset sale, equity transaction, merger, public stock offering, acquisition, bankruptcy, insolvency, liquidation, or similar proceeding, or in preparation for any of these events. That person or entity may use your personal data for their own purposes.
  • With consent or at the direction of the individual, when they instruct or authorize us to do so, consistent with our agreements and applicable law.
  • For other purposes disclosed by us, and for any other purpose we deem necessary, including to protect the health or safety of others.

4. Security

We maintain security designed to protect the personal data we collect and store from loss, misuse, destruction, or theft. However, no security measure or modality of data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. International data transfer

We are headquartered in the United States and may use service providers that operate in other countries. Your personal data may be transferred to the United States or other locations where privacy laws may not be as protective as those in your state, province, or country.

6. Data retention

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collect it, including maintaining and improving our Products, and for the purpose of satisfying any legal, accounting, contractual, or reporting requirements or for fraud prevention purposes.

7. Children’s privacy

Our Products are not designed or intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal data from children under 13 years of age.

8. Third-party links

Our Products may contain links that will let you access websites. Linked websites are not under our control. We accept no responsibility or liability for these linked websites. Products may be integrated into customers’ systems or into third‑party platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy, security, or data handling practices of our customers’ systems or of any third‑party platforms they use.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to modify this Product Privacy Policy at any time. If we make material changes to this Product Privacy Policy, we will notify you by updating the date of this Product Privacy Policy and posting it on our website or by other appropriate means. Any modifications to this Product Privacy Policy will be effective upon our posting the modified version (or as otherwise indicated at the time of posting).

10. Your state privacy rights and additional disclosures

Depending on the US state in which you reside, you may have certain privacy rights regarding your personal data. For example, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, Texas, and other states have passed state privacy laws. If you are a California resident, please see our “California Collection Notice.” For other state residents, your privacy rights may include (if applicable):

  • The right to confirm whether or not we are processing your personal data and to access such personal data and the categories of personal data we are processing or have processed;
  • The right to obtain a copy of your personal data that we collected from and/or about you in a portable and, to the extent technically feasible, readily usable format that allows you to transmit the information to another controller without hindrance, where the processing is carried out by automated means;
  • The right to obtain a list of third parties to which we have disclosed personal data or, depending on the jurisdiction, if we do not maintain this in a format specific to you, a list of third parties to which we have disclosed any consumer’s personal data or categories of third parties;
  • The right to delete personal data that we collected from and/or about you, subject to certain exceptions;
  • The right to correct inaccurate personal data that we maintain about you, subject to certain exceptions;
  • The right, if applicable, to opt out of the processing of your personal data for purposes of (1) targeted advertising; and (2) the “sale” of your personal data (as that term is defined by applicable law). We do not process your personal data pursuant to this Product Privacy Policy for targeted advertising, so we do not offer this separate right;
  • The right, if applicable, to opt out of the processing of your personal data for purposes of profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning you. If your personal data is profiled in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning you, you have the right to question the result of the profiling, to be informed of the reason that the profiling resulted in the decision, and, if feasible, to be informed of what actions you might have taken to secure a different decision (and the actions that you might take to secure a different decision in the future). If applicable, you also have the right to review the personal data used in the profiling and, if the decision is determined to have been based upon inaccurate personal data, the right to have the data corrected and the profiling decision reevaluated based upon the corrected data. We do not process your personal data pursuant to this Product Privacy Policy for profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects, so we do not offer this separate right;
  • If we are required by applicable law to obtain your consent to process sensitive personal data, the right to withdraw your consent;
  • The right not to receive discriminatory treatment by us for the exercise of your privacy rights; and
  • The right to appeal our decision regarding your request.

To opt out of the sale of your personal information:

  • You have the right to direct us to stop selling or sharing your personal Information. You may submit a request to opt-out of sales or sharing your information through our Online Privacy Portal or by calling us at 1-866-221-9291 (for California residents).

If legally required, we will comply with your request upon verification of your identity and, to the extent applicable, the identity of the individual on whose behalf you are making such request. To do so, we will ask you to verify data points based on information we have in our records. If you are submitting a request on behalf of another individual, please use the same contact methods described above. We will process authorized agent requests in accordance with applicable law. If we refuse to take action regarding your request, you may appeal our decision by replying to the email you received from us in response to your request.

We may collect, use, or sell your personal data for the purpose of training large language models.
