Cotality today announced the appointment of Gerard Burg as Head of Research, Australia, strengthening the company’s leadership in market insights and economic analysis across the Australian property ecosystem.
In this role, Gerard will lead the research agenda, shaping flagship publications, media commentary and client briefings, working closely with stakeholders to deliver timely, relevant and data-rich perspectives on housing and broader economic trends.
Gerard joins Cotality from National Australia Bank(NAB), where he served as a Senior Economist specialising in international economic research. His recent focus has been on emerging markets, with a particular emphasis on China.
He brings more than two decades of experience across both the private sector and government, with deep expertise spanning macroeconomics, industry analysis and energy policy.

Gerard holds Bachelor’s degrees in Economics(Honours) and Commerce from the Australian National University (ANU) and is a seasoned media commentator known for distilling complex concepts into clear, practical insights.
