Auction Market Preview - week ending 3 August 2025

Just under 1,650 capital city homes set to go under the hammer this week

There are currently 1,642 homes scheduled for auction across the combined capitals this week, down -4.0% on last week (1,710), and -7.6% lower than this time last year (1,778).  

Melbourne has the highest volume of scheduled auctions this week, with 746 homes set to go under the hammer.  The previous week saw 786 auctions held across Melbourne, while this time last year, 834 auctions were held.

In Sydney, 608 homes are currently scheduled for auction, up from 597 last week. Over the same week last year, 612 homes were taken to auction across the city.

Across the smaller capitals, 130 homes are scheduled to go under the hammer in Brisbane this week, down -30.5% on last week (187). There are 94 auctions scheduled in Adelaide, 17.5% higher than last week (80). Canberra is expecting a rise in auction numbers with 56 homes scheduled to go under the hammer this week, up from 49 last week. There are eight auctions scheduled in Perth this week, down from 11 last week, while there are no auctions scheduled in Tasmania for the second week in a row.

Auction activity is expected to fall further next week, with around 1,550 homes currently scheduled to go under the hammer across the combined capitals.
