Auction Market Preview - week ending 27 July 2025
Increase in auction activity across the combined capitals week-on-week
There are currently 1,751 homes scheduled for auction across the combined capitals this week, up 12.2% on last week (1,561), while -11.3% lower than this time last year (1,975).
Melbourne has the highest volume of scheduled auctions this week, with 787 homes set to go under the hammer. The previous week saw 671 auctions held across Melbourne, while this time last year, 870 auctions were held.
In Sydney, 621 homes are currently scheduled for auction, up from 585 last week. Over the same week last year, 721 homes were taken to auction across the city.
Across the smaller capitals, 193 homes are scheduled to go under the hammer in Brisbane this week, up 25.3% on last week (154). There are 90 auctions scheduled in Adelaide, 4.7% higher than last week (86). Canberra is expecting a fall in auction numbers for the third consecutive week, with 50 homes scheduled to go under the hammer this week, down from 56 last week. There are 10 auctions scheduled in Perth this week, up from six last week, while there are no auctions scheduled in Tasmania this week, after three went under the hammer last week.
Auction activity is expected to fall next week, with around 1,580 capital city homes scheduled to go under the hammer.
