Auction Market Preview - week ending 20 July 2025
Auction activity remains relatively low across combined capitals
There are currently 1,553 homes scheduled for auction across the combined capitals this week, up 8.4% on last week (1,432), although -12.6% lower than this time last year (1,777).
With auction numbers holding firm week-on-week, Melbourne has this week’s highest volume of scheduled auctions, with 628 homes set to go under the hammer. This time last year, 767 homes were taken to auction across the city.
In Sydney, 609 homes are currently scheduled for auction, up from 556 last week and 605 this time last year.
Looking across the smaller capitals, 154 homes are scheduled to go under the hammer in Brisbane, up 51.0% on last week (102). There are 98 auctions scheduled in Adelaide this week, up 30.7% on last week (75), while Canberra is expecting a week-on-week fall in auction numbers, with 54 homes scheduled to go under the hammer, down from 60 last week. There are just six auctions scheduled in Perth this week, down from nine last week, while auction activity is set to double in Tasmania, with four auctions currently scheduled.
Auction activity is expected to increase next week, with around 1,700 homes currently scheduled to go under the hammer across the combined capitals.
